Your body needs nutrients to function properly so today I am providing you with my recommended list of vitamins and supplements to increase fertility naturally.

10 Vitamins and Supplements to Increase Fertility Naturally

1. Prenatal Vitamins

These vitamins should be taken when a woman decides that she wants to try and become pregnant. They help to ensure the body is getting enough nutrients to support a growing baby.

2. Vitamin C

This is essential for both men and women when trying to conceive. It is shown to improve sperm count, mobility and viability. Vitamin C can be found in most fruits such as strawberries, kiwi, red peppers, pineapple, etc.

3. Folic Acid or Folate

Belongs to the B Vitamin Group. This has been shown to prevent birth defects, but is also important in helping to increase fertility naturally in both men and women. Food sources rich in folate include green leafy vegetables, oranges and enriched grains. It is important to continue to take Folic Acid in early pregnancy to prevent serious neural defects by up to 70%.

4. Zinc

This mineral helps to increase fertility naturally in both men and women. It improves the production of testosterone in men which helps sperm mobility and count and helps the woman’s body to use estrogen and progesterone more efficiently. Sources of Zinc include meat and seafood, wheat germ and whole grains.

5. Evening Primrose Oil

This supplement is rich in Vitamin E and the essential fatty acid GLA. It helps to increase the woman’s cervical mucus which helps create a more successful environment for sperm to swim to the egg and also allows sperm to stay alive for up to 5 days, which can enable conception even if intercourse doesn’t happen again by the time ovulation occurs. Once pregnant you will want to discontinue use of these supplement, but hold on to them, because it is essential to use again in the last couple weeks of pregnancy.

6. Vitamin B6 and B12

This combination of vitamins is also beneficial for conception. They help to increase sperm count and play a key role in the development of new tissue, which helps during ovulation. B vitamins are found in eggs, meat and grains.

7. Magnesium

This mineral is responsible for a multitude of bodily functions, yet surprisingly many of us are deficient in magnesium. Magnesium helps to increase fertility naturally and helps the body to absorb other nutrients as well. Low magnesium levels can result in infertility causing spasms in a woman’s fallopian tubes preventing implantation. Including magnesium is essential to obtain better health and wellness. Magnesium can also help reduce symptoms or even prevent morning sickness. Try this calming magnesium rub or get some magnesium oil or flakes.

8. Fermented Cod Liver Oil

This oil is high in Omega-3 fatty acids offering lots of beneficial fats and nutrients as well as boosting proper hormone production. It is available in capsule or liquid form and is highly recommended to increase fertility naturally.

9. Maca

This herb is well known for its fertility properties for both men and women. For women it helps to increase progesterone levels and in men it has been shown to increase sperm count and mobility. It can be found in either capsule or power form and should not be taken while pregnant so make sure to only take this while trying to conceive.

10. Rasberry Leaf Tea

This high nutrient tea is beneficial in all stages of life but because it is a uterine tonic it is recommended for women. This herb is excellent for the women’s reproductive system and has been used for centuries to balance hormones and ease symptoms of PMS, endometriosis, menstrual problems, cysts and to increase fertility naturally.

Men Need Fertility Support Too!

Most people are aware that the woman needs to increase her vitamin and supplement intake when trying to conceive, but it is also essential that men do as well.
